Given the significant improvement in the matric results of 2025, a celebratory event, hosted by the Lions River Circuit was staged in the Michaelhouse Schlesinger theatre to acknowledge those teachers who achieved100% pass rate in their subjects as well as the Principals of schools that achieved 100% pass rate and those that were the most improved. The ceremony embraced our 6 Secondary footprint schools, some located outside of the circuit. The event brought together education stakeholders, school leaders, union representatives, and district officials and was attended by a 100 award recipients.

Lions River Primary delighted guests with an introductory and beautiful violin performance. The programme was steered by the Programme Director, Mr K. Hadebe, and opened with a prayer by Pastor S. B. Duma, followed by welcoming remarks from Councilor Nkuna. Dr Nzimande of the Vulindlela circuit outlined the purpose of the day, emphasizing the importance of recognizing dedication, performance, and collaborative effort in improving learner outcomes.
It was a happy occasion with 54 ‘special’ teacher awards being made and 6 schools and their staff being recognized. What is particularly significant is that five years ago these circuits were amongst the poorest performing in KZN, now they are amongst the best, with MCPT Outreach making an important contribution.
