We are excited to share a major milestone in our educational journey of uplifting local communities. For many years the 2-5, year-olds in the Lions River community have lacked a functional ECD Centre, a critical component of their educational journey. Having recently raised the funds we are now on the ground ready for installation thanks to the support of the Albert Wessels Trust (Funding Partner), the Brightkid Foundation (Project Implementor) and the Umngeni Municipality Planning Team.
The centre, adjacent to Lions River Primary (a CPT ‘footprint’ school), comprises two refurbished containers and includes two classrooms, a sick bay, hygienic facilities, an office and a well-equipped playground that will offer up to 50 Lions River toddlers a safe, welcoming, and stimulating environment where they can learn, explore, and build a strong foundation for their future education.
Construction is expected to be completed with full registration by January of 2026, allowing parents access to a reliable, nurturing and sustainable ECD Centre in their community for the first time.
